I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It's always a bittersweet holiday for me because my mom passed the day before Thanksgiving.
We still had fun, though, visiting with Jason's family as well as my dad. Not to mention the week-long vacation from work! Yippee!
A few cool links...then I'll let you in on my thankful list...

OK, before Thanksgiving, I made the kids do the exercise where each letter in a word stand for another word. You'll catch on quickly...
Anyway, thought I'd do it, too, so here's my list! Obviously, there is much, much more I thank God for everyday--especially my husband!
So Happy Thanksgiving to you! (I'd love to see your lists!)

Happy Thanksgiving!
A couple of links that you might enjoy perusing during the last little bit of your Thanksgiving weekend...
http://cognitivelabs.com/word_shoot.htm
This thing is super-fun. I'm not big into games, but I could play this for hours!
A recently released GAO report--“U.S. Democracy Assistance for Cuba Needs Better Management and Oversight.” One of my library colleagues is using this as liberal propaganda--evidence that Cuba is great and the United States is not. What do you think?!
Meanwhile...the Christmas displays are out at ACA. The kids have already been asking for the books, and we have plenty to offer! I'd estimate we have 150-200 Christmas books, which is pretty good for a library our size.
By the way, December's featured author is Scott O'Dell.
Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving! Three more weeks until we're out for Christmas! Yippee!

November Notes
Ah...November at ACA...Walk-a-Thon...a week out for Thanksgiving (who needs Fall Break?)...featured author Virginia Hamilton...and Garfield! Fun stuff. We're just super-busy heading toward the holidays!
It's a good kind of busy, though. The kids are having fun...we're talking about being thankful. I actually pulled out the tiny bit of creativity I have and decorated the library. Sadly, I have no pictures of my own to share (yet another reason I should have a digital camera).
Meanwhile, a couple of interesting links...

I've also been reading through several books lately, but, so far, I haven't come across anything inspiring enough to pass along.
But stay tuned...I'm sure to find something soon! In the meanwhile, I suggest Virginia Hamilton's A Ring of Tricksters.
Next time...I'll pass along my "thankful for" list I've been doing with the kiddos. I'd love to hear your list, especially if there are some good books to share!

November Nuggets
Don't you just love Autumn? Even in Tuscaloosa, we get our fair share of season changing. The leaves on the trees lining the Black Warrior River are breathtaking! This picture didn't do it justice--another good reason to get a digital camera!
November has been quite busy for us so far. It seems as if we've crammed tons of school events into this one month...trying to get everything out of the way before the holidays, I guess. It's been fun so far, though, and I know the kids will enjoy next week. We're watching Garfield's Thanksgiving special.
And, if you're keeping track, Virginia Hamilton is this month's featured author. I have to confess I most enjoy her picture books and fables, but I'm sure her novels are excellent as well.
Other news...my dad is officially retired after 30 years at TVA. You don't see people stay 30 years in one place too much anymore. Without getting too mushy, I will say I'm super-proud of him, and I can't wait to see how he's going to spend his retirement. I'm sure there will be a lot of Harley riding!
I've been skimming a few books lately, but nothing has caught my attention enough to pass it along. Same with movies. In fact, I don't really have a lot of news right now!
I guess I've been too caught up in trying to decide whether to order a Pumpkin Spice Latte or a Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks (or...if you want a better cider in Tuscaloosa...try Heritage House).
Overall, Jason, Fred and I are all doing great, and for that, I'm thankful. In fact, I've been working on a "thankful" list that I had the kids do last week. I'll plan to post that next, and I'd love to hear what's on your list this year!
